Machined Spring Expertise From Abssac

Date Added: 1st March 2011

Abbsac's machined spring range includes a variety of different parts which offer engineers an entirely new paradigm to work with which is entirely different than the conventional wound springs which they have dealt with in the past. With springs which are a world apart from traditional springs, these parts open up new possibilities in terms of both attachment and performance.

There are still a great many applications out there for which traditional wound wire springs are the best solution. However, these machined springs are inherently limited in the applications for which they are suited and there are some well known limits to these parts in terms of their reliability under stressful conditions when compared to a machined spring. High duty cycle applications can be especially tough on traditional springs, as any engineer is aware, but these new springs have advanced the state of the art and enabled engineers to streamline and increase the efficiency of the mechanical systems they design and maintain.

Available in compression, extension, lateral translation, lateral bending and torsion formats, the new Abssac range of springs offer familiar contours with innovative designs that mean incredibly precise rates of linear deflection ( +/- .1% as opposed to the +/- 10% typical of conventional wound wire springs) by almost completely eliminating residual stress. An Abssac machined spring has virtually no internal stress to work against before deflecting unlike conventional springs.

For applications which demand something other than the standard spring formats, multiple start spring coil configurations are also available. Unlike a single start spring, these double or triple start springs have two or three continuous intertwined coils, respectively. These coils can essentially operate independently to provide a much higher level of performance than a single start model, whether a traditional or machined spring. Regardless of the configuration in question, Abssac springs provide engineers with a welcome change: precision elasticity.
