Magnetic Filters Used In Fluid Conditioning

If you have ever experienced a "sludged up" domestic or industrial water pumped heating system, you will know that this problem is very expensive to rectify and it will be a recurring cost with increased pump wear and premature replacement.
To overcome this problem and many like applications where circulating fluids are involved, Magnom magnetic flow filters from FTL are a revolutionary solution. These magnetic filters condition the fluid by removing the smallest ferrous solids down to less than one micron in size from fluids such as water, oil and hydraulic fluids.
The Magnom magnetic flow filters work in a completely different way to mechanical particle filters in that they remove the ferrous particulate matter by passing the flow through multiple flow channels within high magnetic flux zones.
This draws the ferrous material into a collection zone without affecting the area of flow, thus causing zero pressure drop! Mechanical filters on the other hand, will cause increasing pressure drop as the filter pores progressively block up.
Since in most systems, it is mainly the ferrous corrosion that is responsible for the solids, the magnetic flow filter will provide continuous fluid dialysis for the life of the system. An added practical benefit is that other contaminants that bind themselves to the ferrous particles are removed as well. For example, copper salts, oil and grease in water recirculation systems will tend to be removed along with the ferrous particles.
The Magnom flow filter elements are designed as a reusable cartridge to be easily removed for flush cleaning without dismantling the fluid recirculation system. They are also very tolerant of particulate overload without wash out, which makes them very useful for applications where maintenance periods are extended.
The range of Magnom magnetic flow fliter from FTLs include the inline module, simplex type, duplex type for high contaminant risks, pump mate unit, the 5" HT unit for larger applications and the clear process unit. The last two types feature a clear bowl so that the condition of the filter can be visually inspected whilst in service.
The applications for Magnom magnetic flow filters from FTL are legion and these include:
- Large scale gearboxes as can be found in coal crushing, aluminium and steel plants, rubber mixing and drying kilns and in paper mills.
- Ferrous machine shop operations such as boring, grinding, honing, drilling, milling, drilling, quenching and spark erosion machinery.
- Static Industrial hydraulic systems
- Automotive recirculating oil systems for power steering, turbo-chargers and high performance engines
- Water cooling and heating systems both domestic and industrial
